We were talking, and after he asked who else knew it existed, he suggested seeing if anything new could be done with it. Mentioned we've got access to some volatile materials, that you in particular might manage something that could help in an emergency.
So-- if you're in need of a new project, I said I'd be willing to trust your expertise.
Nothing specific, but honestly, I only know what I need to know about it for maintenance. It's designed to run on magic, not fully mechanical-- figured you might need to look at it first.

'Lu' is my family name - the same as my dad's. [ in a very teacherly tone. he summons up his personal device from his watch, and it shows a screen, letting him taptap away a few characters. ] And Bixing is my given name.

'Lin' is Lin Jingheng's family name. And ... [ a beat, like he's gotten the tiniest little thrill out of saying it, as the characters shift to 林 静恒, then translates to LIN JINGHENG. ] Jingheng is his given name. I've never heard anyone call him that. Not even me! Most people just call him Commander.
Mmm. I think you can still call him that, if you want. It surprised me, the first time I heard it - usually it's just me! I like the way his name sounds, and I was a little too cheeky when I first learned it - it was too late to call him Commander for me, too.
