Pretty big wrench in your plans, then, but... it seems like it was the kind that was meant to happen, if it meant you two meeting.

[with the way he talks about lin-- yeah. seems like it to him.

lu bixing's quiet, for a moment, stilling entirely. fate. luck. both of those things. ]

[ there's more weight to that than he really means for there to be. lu bixing is good at keeping himself from overreacting to things, but - he's glad, that rynlan can't see his face. ] Yeah, we are.

[ he shakes his head a little, and then laughs. ] What a fate, though! Like finding the princess in the castle without the dragon.

Like stumbling on a castle you didn't even know was there in the first place.

[he busies himself with cleaning up a bit, then, gathering up used bowls and utensils, setting aside ingredients that need to be put away. just so that he's facing away still, not looking at each other.]

I wouldn't be surprised if he feels the same way. I've sort of been in his place, before.

[ he doesn't say it, but he appreciates it. the over timer dings, and he goes to put the cookie sheet in. ]

Wouldn't have lived as long as I did, if someone hadn't found me in a similar sort of way. Obviously nothing like being out in space, but-- well, you know, analogous kind of situation.

[he shrugs, slightly.]

Always thought I was pretty lucky for it.
