he better be laying down. it's lu bixing's turn to be fussy!! and... not only that, but... even popcorn is a little fussy. maybe he's lost his inhibition. either way, he's poking up and slithering next to lavi and putting his little snake head on him. :(
in the meantime and less important, lu bixing is coming back into their room with a glass of water in his hands, which he brings over along with a few painkillers. ]
[no... popcorn is being so cute and lavi can't even appreciate him properly... or maybe he does, he looks like he's debating which hand to attempt a pet with,
then he glances up as Bixing comes over,]
Terrible.
[he says it with a smile, but his voice is very hoarse, the kind you get after screaming. then his smile vanishes, glancing away as if he's trying to decide whether or not to say -- then]
...Itto and I -- we got sick over there. I don't have the fever anymore, but I keep coughing up blood.
he!! frowns!!! at this, and then brings lavi the water. there's a straw sticking out of it, even. ]
Here - don't, don't waste your voice too much.
[ he looks a little fussy, brow furrowed, and then reaches past him to very gently fluff up his pillow. popcorn slithers underneath his hand and just sits there making a sad banana python face. ]
... You don't have to tell me what happened, it's okay. If you don't want to.
Where we were -- it was a place from Gideon and Harrow's world. I could feel their emotions at times, like they'd been there before. Plus, Harrow's name was on a painting.
okay well he makes such a face at him until he drinks some water but then he will allow this storytelling to start. lu bixing pulls a lavi - he sits down on the ground next to the bed and pulls out his personal device again. the screen lights up, floating above his hand, and he creates a little keyboard to start tapping notes away. for science.
the screens are holographic enough that it becomes very clear that lu bixing is still looking up at him like an extremely worried father, but that's okay. it's fine. ]
I guess that explains the bones. [ ugh...the ramifications of that flicker across his face before he goes back to typing, and he bites his lip. ] Did you get transported to an island to get there, too?
[what a powerful expression... Lavi squirms a little, feeling guilty... He nods though,]
Space ship. Don't remember getting on though, we came to when it was leaving. There was a castle in ruins, skeletons doing chores in the yard. We went inside to look around and got a key from one of 'em.
[and here lavi's expression darkens, annoyed.]
There was a door that said if we went in we'd die and that we'd lose our souls. Itto ran in headfirst, of course.
We ran in after him, ended up in a lab. A monster appeared and then we... synced up with each other. I became Tuuri's cavalier, like how Gideon is for Harrow.
That's when all the bleeding happened. [he gestures to his face, now clean] I think it was something that happened to Gideon before. Like it was a memory I was experiencing.
[ oh im in tears i know exactly what your cyoa was this is incredible
the syncing up thing doesn't even phase him, really: that just feels kind of normal. it sounds like home?? he taps away at his keyboard, fingers flicking briefly as he writes, thoughtful. and in space, too... so his theory about planets and houses was probably right... wildin. ]
...Her world sounds... [ he chews on his lip, a little. ] ...rough. [ weird. terrible. ] So you were with Tuuri, then - it was Itto and Hunter? What happened to them?
They linked up too. [they were actually having a great time?] We were all together from beginning to end this time -- no one got separated.
The last room we were in... [here lavi pauses] We saw people from our world. People important to us. There was some kinda ritual... but it was basically, kill or be killed. Itto refused and Hunter let himself get stabbed instead, so they both died. Their souls merged with their loved ones, so that's why they came out in their bodies.
[ well. there are a lot of implications in that little sentence. lu bixing stops typing, looking past the screen and then up to lavi, brows knit together - and he reaches out after a moment to very gently put his hand in a spot that's uninjured to give a little squeeze. ]
Yeah -- it was pretty bad. [he lets out a short laugh that's not really a laugh at all, just a sound.]
But I was convinced they weren't real. And it's not the first time I've had to do something like that. I'm just worried about... [hm] I'm worried about Tuuri. ...She might have made the same choice because my emotions were affecting hers.
week 2 thursday >:(

...No, it's important that you know.
