Hmm. Well, come get a glass of water with me? You should be able to keep an eye on the door at that distance, or at least most people who come in and go.

[ Come with her on her night time routine....... ]

I suppose I don't know if it was strictly a meteor, but it's probably close enough. Something strange fell from the sky, and it altered things in the library. We had to deal with some things coming to life, right out of the pages, and write our own additional narrative to make it stop.

I got the burn because I'd tossed the book I picked up into a fire, but it turned out to be a bad decision, since it apparently meant I would go up in flames as well. I got injured when I stuck my hand back in to retrieve it.

Oh, but if you go back, it won't be there anymore. It's all gone, like it never happened.

[ She's noticed, though she won't comment yet. ]

A bit of trial and error. I was given Romeo and Juliet, which I found ridiculous so I tried to throw it away first.

Yes, Chandra and Lavi were with me.

[ If she had a nickel for every time someone brought up Romeo & Juliet at her so far in this game she'd have three nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird it's happened three times already. ]

Oh, I've much a mind to complain to some of the personal demons. They kept sending me that one.

[ She's gonna beat them up!!! ]

Maybe, or maybe not. I really can't come up with any sort of rhyme or reason to why it all happened, I can only accept that it did. And even then, it's barely, as the library's fixed itself since.

[ She wiggles her bandaged fingers. ]

This is the only proof.

[ Eto is out here sipping away at the remainder of her second cocktail she got from Blue Hawaiian right at the end of trial as they head back to the main island.

To her credit, she's trying to keep it in, but it's like, you know. When something is so funny you just can't help yourself.
]

God, that was awful.

I think it goes below novella, my dear.

More like the world's worst written script for a television show.

Hell truly is other people.

[ As usual!!! ]

But you did a good job tonight.

We were all woefully unprepared. But, you know -- this could happen again. This changes the entire game, especially if what he said about the invitation limit is true, and I'm sure he's not the only person who could be convinced to do what it takes to return to their life.

[ But she looks at him, finally. Smiling. ]

For all the good that it did, as it only served to circumstantially disprove the killer. But I am ambidextrous myself, so I couldn't help but be curious.

Will you go speak to him?

The personal demons weren't very forthcoming when I prodded some, here and there.

The kindest answer I can guess at is being sent to a deeper, somewhat worse Circle of Hell. They did say that Hell is very wide, and they don't have jurisdiction over every corner.

The second kindest is oblivion.

[ The worst is, well, maybe a more traditional interpretation of Hell, but she'll spare LBX that. Besides, the imagination does so much worse at times. ]

Blue Hawaiian implied there were no concrete plans for the caught killer. I'm sure they'll come up with something.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's true. The personal demons, while they weren't able to give me a concrete number, did imply to me that not everyone would get a guarantee. Based on our tolerances, as well as how interesting we could be.

If anything, given it's Hell -- twenty sounded generous, I thought.

I wonder if the number will dwindle over time. Just to give us a bigger sense of desperation, and hope someone else will start this all over again.

[ She hums. ]

He mentioned needing to get back to someone. Often, it's for another's sake that a person is most driven, rather than for themselves. And he's impulsive... emotional.

Easy to prey on would sound right, to me.

[ She softens just a little bit, just for him. It's fucking infectious, at this point. ]

Teens in Hell. All the partying and murdering isn't good for their growth.

I'm not going to keep up with all of this energy, I'm too old.

Yeah, you might turn into dust before anyone gets around to killing you, old man.

[ She says, while calling him young man all the time too. Which is it. ]

Hmm, I suppose that might be true. The average lifespan in Japan is late seventy- to eighty-odd years, but murder rates might bring that average a bit lower. Either way, I'm past "twenty percent".

And in fact, I am currently at zero percent.

[ Because we're hecking dead. ]

It's not bad company.
