With who, and when? They've said over and over it's just us in this little area, and we were all locked in, apparently. Did someone stay awake, when all of us were - when we saw what we saw last night?
[ so many questions, and so few answers. he futzes with his sweater again. ] No matter what, it's still an escalation.
Is it really an escalation? We're in Hell, which is supposed to be a land of eternal torment. If anything, the unusual thing is that we spend most of the time doing nothing at all.
That's exactly why it's an escalation. Even our personal demons have only shown any form of 'torment' in the form of mild annoyances.
[ like library books with the pages torn out, or hangovers. ] And they're gone today, with just a message and... not even remains or a crime scene to go along with the announcement that someone's died in a place where we're all supposed to be dead.
[he shrugs, apparently not seeing this as a big deal.]
Yes, the demons' sudden unavailability is unusual. It's not necessarily unlikely this is all part of a deeper plan, or ties into what earns people those invites.
But I see no particular reason to be shocked over this turn of events either.
[i'm sorry to lu bixing who has to talk to someone with no empathy]
The idea isn't wholly new. In my universe, sinners are turned into preta, so that they can be made to suffer physically for the duration of their sentence before reverting back to soul state.
However, that means they can technically be "killed" again, which amounts to returning them to soul form.
[...]
Though we don't seem to be preta, so the exact concept doesn't apply here.
huh. well... there are other questions he wants to ask about like, literally all of that, but he chews the information over for a moment, shifting where he's standing and fussing with his sleeves. ]
So... as preta, then, they are 'killed', and that's how they revert back? When their sentence is done?
[ i read this tag several times and my brain went ? sweats profusely i hope i read this right ]
... That's almost a little heartening, if that is the case. [ a little. ]
[it's fine tbh i'm going off like two lines of canon so heck if i know what's going on]
"Heartening" isn't a word most would use to describe any of Hell's proceedings, although Yama might've actually liked hearing that—if only given how thankless the job is.
friday, week 0.
Do you ever leave this place?

Feels like home.
[ being among the stars.... ]

... I have to wonder why. Maybe that's just some form of special torture. [ though it doesn't seem like he believes that, too much. ]

[unfortunately chandra doesn't seem even remotely affected because sometimes you just don't feel anything over murder]

...No, I guess not.

You might have an interesting perspective on this, Chandra. What do you make of it, the idea that you can die after you die?

I can only imagine. Maybe that's why Satan here's trying to throw parties. [ this is a joke. ]
