[an ear flicks as he notes bixing's frown, taking a drink from the glass.]
You don't need to worry, probably, just- knocked over a latte on Thancred yesterday, I really don't need a repeat incident. Can't burn yourself with these but we don't need to be testing spill absorption versus ingestion before we even know what these do.
[he seems oblivious to just running off at the mouth, taking another drink.]
Not mad, no, he knows it was accidental, but I think I'm going to owe him for that one all week. ...deservedly, probably, it did burn him, but.
[sips. it's a good thing he does not notice the lack of filter and tendency to confess or he'd be dying right about now, especially when he continues.]
I'd say I get along with him better than with most. Haven't been sleeping with him quite as long as Mephisto, but he hasn't had any complaints, except for the tendency to call me a brat, or smug, or something along those lines right before he goes and says I'm comely and radiant, and have I considered trying to relocate to his home universe- [brief pause for a sip.] I think he has feelings for me and I haven't figured out how to tell him he shouldn't.
...Uh...huh. [ interesting. ] That does sound like Thancred. How long have either of those things been going on...? [ a pause. ] And, I don't know about the last part. You're perfectly sweet, Rynlan.
Hm? Well- Mephisto offered the first week we were here. It happened because of the Number Nine, and he's good enough that I figured it might as well continue. [file under things no one ever wanted to know about mephisto] Can't stand him half the time but it's all part of the appeal, I suppose.
[you ever just get annoyed with your roommate and bang about it. i truly cannot with this.]
Thancred talked his way into it the week after that, we've also kept it up, but he's human, he can't- even if everything else worked out, somehow, my lifespan is at least three times a human's. Ones who aren't you. I can't do that.
[ this moment actually just desperately makes him miss uriel, for a second, mostly because no one would want to hear about this more than uriel. it's science, though, so he cannot spill secrets. he also cannot spill them to his gossipy bestie from beyond the grave. he has learned way too much about mephisto today. ]
...I can't say that I understand that logic, but, I'll take your word for it. [ which part? yes. basically anything relating to mephisto, actually. he will continue typing away in binary on his keyboard. ] As for Thancred... I guess that's a little more understandable. It's hard, to love someone and then lose someone.
[ don't say that so casually like your grief wasn't just splattered all over live memory tv like a week ago. ] You ought to really just talk to him about it, though. I think he'd prefer to hear that from you straight.
I'm glad you feel like you can confide in me about it, though. Is that why you wanted to bring it up?
Well. You asked, and I suppose it's just- on my mind. Just feels like I should talk about things.
[another drink, just about finishing it off.]
I should get ahead of it and talk to him, I know, it isn't as if either of us is in love this soon, but knowing him he'll-- he's the type to just do things anyway, I think, he'll go try to save the entire universe not even knowing how and he'll manage it anyway, he's just...
[a shake of his head, there.]
...he reminds me of Aren, is the thing. So do you, in some ways. But he's-- it wasn't even self-sacrifice that got him, nevermind a normal lifespan, there's a good chance he's going to have... I don't know for sure. A decade or less.
[ more binary, that translates this time to Confessional?
because it's not quite impulse control, this time, he doesn't think. this is very helpful for his notes - and thankfully, lu bixing is good at balancing science and being a good listener, playing therapist 101. ]
Well, thank you for the compliment. [ he says first, with a little bit of a smile - by now, he knows that name, so, that's sweet. ] ... The type of person to run into danger, you think?
It's his own business, really, I know you can keep things confidential though, he- it was his heart. Gave out in his sleep. If it's not something that can be treated...
[-then nevermind how short the human lifespan is, he won't get that far.]
...well. that's harder. it's one of those moments where he's thankful for the advancements of the eighth galaxy, and he pauses briefly before he taps one last little message out in binary. Definitely confessional. Not just limited to gossip. ]
...I see.
[ ryn will note that he's not typing as much, now - truly keeping those things secret. a very good confessional. ] Well... who knows. When we all get out of here, maybe something can be done. If nothing else, this is like a restart, isn't it? A chance to try again. And maybe even one that can be enhanced across universes - after all, now that I'm aware of vertical stacking of parallel universes, I'm sure I could engineer a way to travel with enough time and resources. We have all sorts of health advancements, where I'm from, designed for the human body.
...maybe. Traveling between worlds isn't unknown where I'm from, it's just that they're all-- you know. Already linked to each other. Not likely his is one of them, from what I know.
[with his drink finished, he folds his arms on the bartop, settling in there.]
That's right, though, you're-- you don't really have that problem, do you.
[and because of the drink effect, he idly adds-]
If it weren't for you both being so attached I'd have been flirting with you for real, you know, not just for fun.
Most people don't have health problems until they hit 220, and there's almost nothing science can't deal with. Cellular degradation is really the only issue.
[ he just says it offhandedly, not bragging or anything - science is science, is all. as he's finishing his little report, absently adding in time stamps, what rynlan says surprises him? he pauses a little where he's typing, and then just laughs, very softly. ]
You wouldn't have had much luck.
[ but he'll give a little confession for a confession as he moves things around on the screen, idle. ] Not because of you being you - I think you're wonderful, and I'm very glad we're friends, but just because I've never been really interested in it at all. My dad used to always say he was pretty sure I'd get married to a mech.
I didn't even realize I had any feelings for him until I was, quite literally, hooked up to a machine.

It's not bad, by the way. Lemony, little bubbly.

...That is true, though, not a bad idea. I wonder how many of these could be absorbed through the skin for a similar effect.
[ he makes a thoughtful noise. ] You spilled a latte on Thancred? I hope he wasn't mad. You two seem to be getting along pretty well, right?
