[ (gu yun voice) fuck you my purple polearm is cooler than yours
lu bixing lets him finish, though he does peer over his shoulder to look - in the meantime, he picks up one of the blades to test the weight of it, checking out the bases of each, and when he's done, he comes to peer over the drawing, and then makes a thoughtful noise. ]
Aha. Alright, I see what you're saying....I think what might be best is to open up the bottom of one of these. [ he turns the fancy blade over and taps the very bottom of it, between the spiky bits where the hand grip is. ] And if we could create a telescoping rod to go in there that's spring loaded and create a switch mechanism you could hit to release the pole from compact to it's full length...then, all we'd have to do is flip the other one over and create a receptacle for the telescoped pole to rest in, so you could snap them together. You'd have to accommodate for the ringed part around where your hands usually go, but... these are awfully sharp, so I have a feeling you could just utilize that, too....
I think that's the best I could do for you with the materials that we have without deconstructing the entire rig. I need to dig around a little bit and see if I can't find tools to build a telescoping pole, but, it's doable. It's not exactly magic, but, machinery can be pretty impressive!
Also, while Childe is smart, he is definitely not a science nerd; if this were anything besides weapons his eyes would be glazing over by now, but since this is immediately relevant to his interests, he does his best to follow along. Luckily, it's not too terribly complicated, especially since he knows what the end goal is supposed to be.]
Are there materials we can use to build a sample around here? [Just so that he can see how it works before they potentially break his blades.] This is probably a long shot, but I wonder if the demons might be willing to give us more supplies.
anyway it's bixing so clearly he's not stopped by that slight lament... instead he just sits back on the stool as he puts the weapon back down, thoughtful. ]
Maybe. I don't know how accurate it would be since I can't exactly replicate the heft and weight, but we might be able to find something on the new island - there's a lot of useful stuff there. You're more familiar with the weight and construction of it than I am, so if you can think of a good equivalent - maybe a toothpick to start, or a q-tip - then we can go from there.
[The way I misread this and thought LBX was telling him to make a replica with regular-sized toothpicks
But that is not what LBX is saying and Childe is not as dumb as me so he nods, his gaze distant and thoughtful.]
Alright. I'll see what I can find, and I'll see if I can't strike up some kind of deal with Bloody Mary. They're interested in weapon technology too. [Spoilers that's how they bonded.] There are those metal bars in the gym, as well. I'm not sure how sturdy they are, but we can probably experiment a little with some of those.
