I wonder if it has anything to do with our "acclimation." If these islands of ours are heading... deeper into hell, or something like that. [Hmmm.] Then again, Lavi and Eto's adventure sounded a little more traumatic than ours, and they were the first, weren't they?

Only in the way that they're designed to cause suffering.
[ he seems to agree - it seems doubtful. ] Whether that suffering is just the exhaustion of dealing with meat ducks, or the emotional suffering of making choices that could harm someone you loved, like my adventure was. That's the overarching theme of everything, so far, and not so creative, considering it's hell.
I'm not sure. [It's an uncomfortable thing to admit--he seems a little annoyed about it, actually. Not having all the cards.] It would fit with the last thing I remember from before I woke up here. But it's never seemed to fit quite right, in my opinion. There are too many things that don't make sense.
