wherever he is, ryn is seeking him out, despite his own exhaustion, and at first he just. doesn't say anything. he just settles nearby, passes him an extra joint, and turns a bit away from him.]
[ he's here! in the void. lu bixing looks like he's a little less composed than usual, maybe? his hair is wet and messy, like he took a shower, and there's also blood on his shirt? it's fine. he smells up close like cheap shampoo and also alcohol, like the smell wouldn't just quite go away. bixing has dark circles under his eyes, and... when rynlan offers him the joint, he just kind of looks at it, for a long moment.
...
he takes it, but he doesn't do anything with it, really. ]
[ Lu bixing is - well, he is an escapist, but, not as much like this. sometimes, to take the edge off. for him, it was about living in a fantasy every now and then, but more than anything else, when he had these moments, they were almost specifically about harm.
he’s quiet, running the joint between his fingers, and then offering it back. ]
It’s - I’ll pass, I think. It’s not so easy for me to stop thinking. [ … ] I won’t stop you, though, so don’t worry.
[ he is very good at lying, in some ways. this is one of them. very good at being alright.
bixing looks up, now, gazing at the sky. ]
...Every other time we've had someone with no memory of what happened, it didn't matter. They made the killing blow, so they were cast as guilty. By that point, I stopped looking, too.
That's exactly the thing, though, is-- what makes it different then? I know at least one person I talked to thinks it must be an ability, but.
[his brows furrow, ears twitching.]
I didn't really realize anything was coming from the places we went for a while, I have no idea what anyone has, but there's a pretty damn big gap between something like 'talk to animals' and something like... what Tuuri says happened to her.
I wasn't even really aware of the existence of powered abilities like that until fairly recently. And - yes, all of the ones I've been aware of have been a bit silly. The only thing I received has no powers to it.
[ magic is stupid actually. it's fine ]
The rules of this place change so often that I've come to realize that attempting to put order to the chaos of it is pointless, even if that's what we're expected to do.
Still things we can revisit, at least. We didn't think too hard after she started confessing about the person on the outside of the glass-- Tuuri was in there with him, so whatever that mark on the glass was might still be relevant to who they were.
[ ugh. bixing shifts a little where he's sitting, moves his hand to the inside of his arm and pinches the thin skin there. focus. ]
I got a sample, but I couldn't tell what it was. If they'd let me use a microscope, ever, that'd be great. [ it's fine. ] It could've come from whoever was in Kon's photo, I guess?

he just kind of holds the joint between his fingers, rolling the cigarette lightly between his fingertips. ]
Mm. [ quiet. ] That's good, at least. The best we can really do, right?

... Mmm, it's not mine. Gideon's side wound opened up when she was helping me with something.
[ it's. fine. probably? he's fine. ] I just put this shirt back on... I probably should've changed.

[we're all having a fucking time.]
-what were you doing that caused that?

[ ma'am. he's a little flighty about this, but - well, that's probably not surprising. ] We were on the giant island. It's fine, we're both fine.

[his ears remain swiveled back, a little, but. he lets him be cagey about it.]
...I can't- I keep thinking about it. If you don't want to think of it anymore tonight, I won't say anything, but.
[he's lighting his own joint, still fidgety.]

I meant more- if you'd prefer not to talk about it, I won't. Don't think even this is gonna keep my mind from running circles, honestly.
