[hewwo. he's just going to find bixing sometime this morning, after a couple of messages go out-- he seems like the go-to for consultation, on this sort of subject, ryn wants his opinion.]
Mmm. I think the trick here is not to read into it too much.
[ he laughs a little bit. ] I think the fruit talk was him trying to test the censor. If he was going to send a weird message about fruit to anyone who wouldn't take it too weirdly, it'd probably be me, since I could at least make the assumption that everything else he said was important. That, and the fruits he used were in alphabetical order. Apple - banana - carrots - damsons.
Point A: The double dead aren't invited. B: They can be killed there, but they come back - now that's interesting, to me. C: They had nothing to do with the weird meat cupcakes, which was my initial theory with those, so that's debunked. D - He made us the drink at the bar with the cherry in it! I think. It makes the fruit point make sense, and it was the only outlier in what is normally a pretty consistent pattern from week to week.
[grumbled... ryn has experienced that drink, probably. damnit lavi.]
But- he sent me the same thing, letting me know they keep coming back. Mentioned setting that hamster on fire repeatedly? [what the fuck.] I hadn't heard anything about problems with their messages coming through like he said, though, it's never happened with the ones I've received.
I have. Last week, the message he sent me was almost completely garbled, so, I'm not surprised he tried to test it.
[ terrible!!! useless!!! but this is not so that's good. ] But, this is useful for us. We need to streamline a system with them somehow so that everyone signs their messages and is sharing information across people, preferably at least twice in case something goes wrong.
I also asked when they received my message - Cosmos, I think, said he received it the fourth day of the fifth week. Today. And we receive them back immediately, but there's a two day delay when we send them to them. [ slow internet over there in super hell
he looks thoughtful for a little longer, and then claps his hands. ] This is exciting! It's like a detective once said, you have to have data to make an inference - you can't make bricks without clay.
He's been doing that so far, I think. Last week he messaged me to tell me who he'd sent information to so that I could go speak with them, and it seemed like he was diversifying it too-- each of them had a small detail the others didn't. None of them mentioned problems getting the messages.
[so at least there's that!]
Not surprised this is the sort of thing you'd like, though, maybe we should just use you as a common point of contact?
[ ehehehe. he grins, pleased and proud? that's his son but also yeah he loves this stuff ]
I can't help it, really. I love a good puzzle, and... Knowing they're somewhere means they've got to be reachable, somehow - and to know that they aren't actually dead is a boon, too. Where there's a will, there's a way. [ as for the second bit... ]
I wouldn't mind being a common point of contact, but... [ he stops what he's writing, reaching up to tap his pen against his mouth and then chews on the end, thoughtfully. gotta be realistic here. ] - There's no guarantee that I'm going to survive every week, so it would probably be best to have two, just in case.
Don't get me wrong, I have no intentions of killing anyone, and I really don't want to die.
logically, he knows bixing is right. it's reasonable, it's the right way to think in their situation, but it's something he doesn't ever like to acknowledge when it comes to people he cares about.]
...but it would be putting a lot on your shoulders, anyway, so I suppose two would be fine.
[ the corner of his mouth lifts in a wan smile, and he glances over at rynlan. ] I'm terrified of dying, to be honest.
[ what a fun murdergame i chose to app him to
anyway!!! he waves his hand. ] Right. It's just good practice, anyway - we don't want to put all of our eggs in one basket. Still, I don't mind receiving missives! I've been reaching out to everyone every week anyway.
w4 thursday
-sounded a little different today, didn't he?
[are we communicating in code now]

rynlan can find lu bixing on his personal device today - it looks like he's transcribing his message from lavi. ]
He did! I think it was very clever to try and get a message across, to be honest. We learned a lot of information, did you hear the whole thing?

[fond... he likes lavi, lavi's doing his best.]
But I did, yes. I'm guessing you understood a little more of it.

Probably ] -- but just in case.
