[ oh... well, damn, color him enchanted. lin says the magic words and dips closer to him and, yeah, okay, sure, he'll go anywhere he wants. his heart aches and flutters when jingheng takes his hand and pulls, and he slowly goes with him, looking back one last time before he hits save again to be safe and waves his other hand through the screens so they vanish back into his device.
he's trying so hard not to think about what could happen - trying to put his faith in the rest of their group, and trying to return that faith with a created program so they might be able to see each other properly. pulling away from it is a reminder that if that faith is poorly placed, it could go wrong, and this could be their new home.
... up he goes, though, out of the chair, and he gives jingheng a smile. ] Have to, huh? Okay, commander. Anywhere you want.
[ he gives his hand a little squeeze - feels the reassurance of the weight of a brand new band around lin jingheng's finger and lets it settle him. ] Where to?
[ the ring is... a new sensation. jingheng has been twisting it around his finger all night, thumbing at the top of the band selfishly on the inside of his palm. they don't get to stay here, they aren't supposed to. they need to find a way out so that lin jingheng can make good on a personal promise to give lu bixing the world.
but he will take him out out out and... well. somewhere familiarly strange. the halls of the resort aren't unfamiliar, but he shoulders into one room in particular—planets hanging heavy from the ceiling and the other weird shit just shoved into a corner and covered with a dark sheet. go away. no one wants you.
ignoring that, though, there are... some thick blankets and pillows thrown to the ground, and lin jingheng tugs him forward towards them. ]
Time to rest. Away from all that. Your brain will shrivel up.
[ off they go. bixing doesn't mind too much, and he likes a surprise - he smiles at lin jingheng's back as he tugs him along, and then threads their fingers together a little more tightly. across the islands, across the ferry, and... when they end up back at the resort and back at that room with the planets, he laughs.
he can't help it. it's soft, sweet like a fluttering bird, and he squeezes jingheng's hand again and leans into his arm when he spots the pillows and blankets, and then looks up, reminded immediately of that saturday in the planetarium now months ago. things are better, have gotten better since. maybe not perfect. there are still days when he's terrified that lin jingheng is going to wise up and leave him. there are still days when he wakes up holding back a scream in the middle of a night, where he has nightmares of lin jingheng shriveling in space, of lin jingheng being shot, twice, right in front of him, of lin jingheng over the side of a cliff, his ship exploding in the middle of a transfer portal, and he has to force himself to put his hand on lin's chest and tremble and remember that he's still alive. but, despite everything here, he's done some healing. despite everything, spending eight weeks by jingheng's side was a balm for lu bixing's weary, broken soul.
